If you started your programme at a different point in the academic year, or are completing induction on a part-time basis, the UCL policy provides guidance on non-standard induction arrangements.
January 2026 starters
ECTs who started in January 2026 joined the September 2025 cohort at Module 3 (face-to-face cluster training). They were asked to complete the Module 1 and 2 formative assessments to help identify any areas requiring additional support through mentor meetings. Further details about personalised training arrangements are included in the UCL Non-standard Induction Policy.
The online induction session took place on 22 January 2026. The recording and presentation are available below:
April 2026 starters
ECTs who started in April 2026 followed the Summer Starter Programme during the summer term before joining the September 2026 cohort. Induction information was shared following registration on the DfE portal.
Part-time ECTs
Part-time ECTs should continue their programme training at the same pace as full-time ECTs. The following points are important when planning training and mentoring:
- Part-time ECTs may attend face-to-face cluster sessions where this has been agreed with their school. These sessions are paced for full-time ECTs.
- Schools should plan mentor meetings carefully to ensure that all programme content is covered.
- ECTs should continue their training and mentor meetings throughout their statutory induction period.
- Attendance at annual conferences should follow the full-time equivalent (FTE) programme schedule. For example, an ECT working 0.5 FTE would normally attend the Year 2 conference at the end of their second year of the programme.
