Beginning to Understand Teaching for Mastery is a programme for schools that are on the Teaching for Mastery programme, so have worked with a Secondary Mastery Specialist to develop Teaching for Mastery in their department but have new staff who have joined the team that have not had this input. This allows new staff to get up to speed with their understanding of what Teaching for Mastery is.
Participants will attend 4 online twilight sessions which will introduce and explore the 5 big ideas and principles behind Teaching for Mastery.
They will see where Teaching for Mastery has come from and the strengths behind the approach. The sessions will consider different materials and resources created with Mastery in mind, which participants can then deliver in their own context, and evaluate their success. Participants will also work together collaboratively to create their own resources and also plan their own lessons using a mastery approach.
Participants will be encouraged to share what they have learnt with their department, in order to have impact on the practice of others.
