Spotlight on New NPQ Funding

Posted 2nd July 2024

In April the DfE confirmed changes to the NPQ scholarship funding. At Red Kite, we are now into our sixth cohort and have trained and supported over 800 NPQ participants on our leadership and specialist NPQs. We are proud of our NPQ delivery, it is facilitated by superb local leaders and has supported many colleagues to implement change in their school and develop their career. NPQ Structure

There are 2 types of NPQ: leadership, which is 18 months long and specialist, which is 12 months long. NPQs are a blended learning approach with online after school seminars, F2F conferences and a learning platform. There is no school-based project and you can tailor the learning to suit your context.

NPQ Funding

We want to support as many new participants as possible to access our NPQs and the following guidance will help you make the most of the revised funding.

The following NPQs are still fully funded, subject to application and confirmation of places by the DfE:

  • NPQH: for heads or aspiring headteachers.
  • NPQ Leading Primary Maths: for teachers (primary and secondary) with experience of Mastery approaches who want to implement primary maths in their setting.
  • NPQ SEN: the new qualification for SENCOs. This is also open to senior leaders and aspiring SENCOs.

Continued full funding for the complete NPQ suite from autumn 2024 is limited to those teachers and leaders who work in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities. Please get in touch if you believe your school is eligible (we have contacted all schools directly who meet the highest 50% Pupil Premium).

Furthermore, the DfE has capped all scholarship funding across the targeted NPQs and high disadvantage schools NPQs. Red Kite Teaching School Hub has now been allocated places, we encourage you to apply as soon possible to guarantee a funded scholarship place.

For schools not eligible for funding, our prices can be found here
